ATOPIC DERMATITIS

DESCRIPTION OF MINOR CRITERIA

5. Tendancy to skin infections
A common viral skin infection in children with AD is molluscum contagiosum. In AD patients these infections are characterized by many more umbilicated papules than are seen in similarly infected non-atopics.

AD patients are also more susceptible to the development of warts (verrucae) and fungal skin infections.
